What the stats mean

The in-game 1 to 10 stars are just averages of the hidden 0 to 100 stats below, and that hidden layer is what actually drives the game. Execution stats (power, speed, arm…) matter no matter who's controlling the kid. Decision stats (the AI/behavior group) mostly kick in when the CPU is running them, since a kid you control makes those calls for them.

The 4 star ratings (1 to 10)

Not real stats, just averages of the hidden ones. Bat = Power + Contact · Run = Speed · Pitch = Heat + arsenal · Field = Arm + Aim + Coordination + Eye + Stamina.

Batting

Power (POW)
How far the ball flies on solid contact. This is your home run distance.
Contact (CON)
How consistently they square it up vs. a whiff or weak grounder.

Running

Speed (SPD)
Foot speed on the basepaths (and almost certainly fielding range too).

Fielding

Arm Strength (ARM)
Throw velocity and distance.
Throw Aim (AIM)
Throw accuracy: hitting the bag vs. sailing or bouncing it.
Coordination
Cleanly fielding and catching the ball vs. bobbling it.
Eye (EYE)
Ball tracking, and a fielding skill: how well a defender reads the ball off the bat and judges a fly ball or line drive to get into position and make the play. Higher Eye means fewer misjudged balls falling in for hits.
Stamina (STAM)
Endurance. Pitchers lose steam late, plus general fatigue.

Pitching

Heat
Fastball speed and quality.
Pitch masteries
Slowball, Left/Right Hook, Corkscrew, ZigZag, Big Freeze, Fireball, Spitball, Crazy Ball, Slo Mo, Elevator. Each one is how good that specific trick pitch is. 0 = they can't throw it at all.

AI / Behavior mostly CPU

Intelligence (IQ)
CPU smarts: baserunning reads, swing decisions, positioning. Does nothing for a kid you control.
Attention
CPU alertness and reaction: getting caught napping vs. reacting to a play.
Aggression
How aggressively the CPU plays: chasing pitches, stealing, taking extra bases.
